My Human Spirit

I have a Bachelor of Law degree, a masters degree in Taxation, am a CPA, and have been an international tax advisor for many years. I have been a Christian since I was a young child.

One thing that has impressed me most about the church is the understanding of our human spirit. The Bible says that man is created with three parts: the spirit, the soul, and the body (1 Thes. 5:23).  The Bible also says that God is Spirit, and we must worship Him in spirit (John 4:24). Our spirit is the deepest part in our being made to contact God.  If we don’t use this organ to contact God within, we will not be able to contact Him. It is like how we use our eyes to see– if we do not open our eyes, we cannot see.  If we do not use our spirit, we cannot contact God.

Even though I know this, many times I still try to contact God in my mind.  This does not work.  I have found that the best way to contact God with my spirit is to call on His name (Oh Lord Jesus!).   His name is Wonderful!  He is rich to all who call upon Him (Romans 10:12).

When I contact God within, I have an inward sense of peace. My outward situation may not be peaceful but deep within me there is such peace. I am glad that I can use my human spirit to contact God!
